Spyder Accident

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP -- Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Lt. Craig Cvetan, Lancaster post commander of the Highway Patrol, said it appeared the motorcycle was headed east on Pleasantville Road when it went off the right side of the road.

The motorcycle then struck a ditch and overturned more than once.

Gary Pugh, 65, and Ethel Pugh, 66, were thrown from the motorcycle during the crash.

A trooper at the scene said it wasn't immediately clear which of the two was driving the three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder at the time of the crash.

In addition to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the Richland Township Fire Department and the Fairfield County Coroner's office responded to the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Cvetan said.

Troopers said there were no witnesses to the crash, which occurred just east of the Thornville Road intersection.

Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of crash.
